84% of our expenses are focused on feeding and caring for animals and maintaining the shelter in which they are housed.
Last year, 72% of the WCHS operating budget came from donations and fundraising efforts.
It’s true, money is what the shelter needs most. The Wood County Humane Society rescues and places more than 500 animals a year and places them in good homes. Fund-raising projects, administrative duties like payroll and bill paying, and the coordination of educational and adoption events, and volunteer projects are all dependent on volunteers (our board and committee members). Our board members do not receive a salary, and most of our staff receives minimum wage to carry on daily shelter operations. There’s no question that the Wood County Humane Society runs a tight ship so that your generous contributions can provide medical treatment, spay/neuter services, and the essentials of food, water, and shelter to the animals until a permanent, safe home is found. We do not receive any funding from the ASPCA or the Humane Society of the United States. The bottom line is we need your help to save lives!
Individuals who donate $30 or more to the WCHS will be considered members. Members receive the quarterly newsletter and having voting
privileges at the annual meeting. Thank you in advance for your tax-deductible donation. Your gift today can help save a life tomorrow. Donate here!
